New Year, New Adventures

via here

This new year will bring a few changes for us.

We are relocating to Peru for one whole year starting in the Spring.
We are also traveling throughout several countries in South America -
Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Columbia.
We are looking forward to all the travels and this long vacation,
but I have to tell you I am not looking forward to traveling with AJ.
I know that sounds mean, but let me tell you why.
Most of the time when we go out of town, half an hour into
the car ride, he is already begging to get out of his car seat.
Not fun! Even a movie won't distract him and he will fight sleep for hours.
Thank goodness he is this cute.
If you have kids that like to travel, I envy you.
This may just be a phase that I hope he outgrows, but
in his 2 years of life he has never liked the car.
I have never moved anywhere for this length of time without
my "stuff" (furniture, kitchen things, etc.).
We are taking most of AJ's furniture and toys and that's about it.
We will be renting a furnished apartment
and I am nervous about that. The decor will probably not be
to my liking and I think that may bother me quite a bit.

All in all, I am so excited and can't wait to explore and see
South America. I am sure there will be a lot of wonderful and fun experiences
that will outweigh those little things I am worried about.

So they say home is where the heart is.
But if you were in my position, what things
would you take to make it feel more like home?
