How I Almost Killed My Favorite Blouse
. . . . . . or how to camouflage an imperfection on a blouse. I am not kidding you. My whole day on Monday was about ruined when I tried to spot clean a stain on my absolute favorite blouse and somehow the stain grew by like a thousand times. Okay now I am just exaggerating, but the stain did grow about 10 times. I really was upset at the death of my blouse. I am quite attached to it as you can see. This blouse was perfection. It hugged my body just the right way and the neckline was classic in the front, but in the back it hung a bit lower. It was the blouse I wore on my I don't like my body type of day. This blouse somehow made me feel better about my body. You know those bad hair days, I have those too a lot, and then some bad-body-image days.
I think that day I experienced every stage of mourning. There was definitely denial. I tried fixing it over and over again. It must have pre-soaked with every natural ingredient known to man and when that didn't do it, I reached for the bleach. Not a good thing! The stain about quadrupled at that moment. Then this led to anger. Then of course came bargaining telling myself, if only I hadn't tried the bleach. Then a low moment of depression for the loss of my favorite blouse. Until I reached acceptance. I went online to look for a substitute. No such luck. Yes, I know I am being quite dramatic about this blouse.
Now, I am loving my blouse with its imperfection and all. I am just going to hide the stain. So here are some ways to hide an imperfection on a blouse. Obviously it will depend on where the imperfection is, but in my case these will all probably work. Or so I am telling myself. Am I back at denial? No really, these tricks will work.
2. a & b. Monogram over it. If needed do a patch with a monogram.
3. A statement necklace that will draw the eye to it instead of the imperfection/stain.
4. Add a flower pin over it.
5. Layer a fur stole in the cooler months.
6. Layer a fun scarf.
I will definitely be using these tricks. Ultimately, I may end up doing the patch with the monogram. I do love my monograms anyway.
