Cheese Plate 101
I love a good cheese plate. Sometimes and mostly on weekend nights, I use it as a dinner meal. It's simple to put together and no cooking is required which is key when you are running errands all day or out having some fun.
Here's how to in case you need some help on this:
1. Buy a good wood board or sometimes I'll use my marble pastry board.
2. I love adding prosciutto or salami and if I'm making an effort, I'll add some Spanish ham {jamon Serrano}.
3. Add your favorite cheeses. Alpine Lace swiss cheese is my newest addition.
4. Add some vegetables such as olives {are they a veggie?} and cherry tomatoes, and if they are in season I love adding heirloom tomatoes sliced in big chunks with some olive oil and kosher or sea salt.
5. Add some sweetness to the plate in form of fruits. I love using fresh figs, sliced pears, and grapes.
6. For a little crunch add some nuts.
7. Add a pepper jelly or honey in case you or others {if you are entertaining} want some more flavor.
8. And last, but so essential is either slices of a French baguette and/or some crackers.
You'll have the best cheese plate and well-balanced at that if you just follow these simple steps.
Throughout the next few days, I'll also be sharing how I snack to stay fueled using the hashtag #LifeIngredients. I encourage you to do the same and share your own snack ideas with that hashtag on your social media or visit the Alpine Lace Facebook page. And while you are on their Facebook page hit the like button. I have also been having so much fun creating my own nutrition labels and you can too on the Alpine Lace landing page.
