Holiday Wines & Champagnes
TIS' THE SEASON TO EAT, DRINK AND BE MERRY
It's the season for holiday parties and entertaining . . . If you are looking for a new bottle to try or to give as a hostess gift, here are some of my favorites.
WINES
1. Laurent Miquel Père et Fils Cinsault Syrah Rosé: A rosé that great to have all-year round as it pairs well with almost everything. Under $10.
2. Poppy Pinot Noir: One of my favorite pinots under $20.
3. Hahn Pinot Noir: An easy to find pinot noir at the grocery store and also under $15.
4. Erath Oregon Pinot Noir: Another easy to find and most of the time I can find it under $20.
5. Hahn Meritage: This classic Bordeaux-style blend manages to be approachable yet complex. Under $20.
6. Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon: A great wine to pair with hearty winter dishes such a beef bourguignon or a gourmet bacon cheeseburger. Between $20 - $30.
7. Chappellet Cervantes Mountain Cuvée Napa Valley 2012: Another classic Bordeaux-style under $25.
8. Scheid Claret: A Bordeaux-style luxury bottle at $60.
9. Shatter Grenache: A French Grenache wine under $30.
CHAMPAGNES
1. Veuve Clicquot: The blogger's favorite and under $60.
2. Moet & Chandon: Another favorite under $60.
3. Dibon Brut Reserve: A delicious champagne from the region of Spain. Under $15.
4. De Chanceny Rose Brut, Cremant De Loire: A pretty bottle and a great sparkling wine under $20.
5. La Marca Prosecco: A favorite under $15.
