Moments

I think it began more out of a necessity for me as a single parent, but now they have become one of my most cherished moments of my day. Even my son will request to have a moment. So you are probably wondering what these moments are. These moments usually happen towards the end of the night after dinner and they are basically "quiet time". But tell my kids we are having "quiet time" and they'll both refuse. I quickly realized after having kids is that creating code words work best. I would find myself exhausted from the day that I would ask the kids to have a moment with mommy and on these moments we act quietly and relax. They can include watching a show or just laying in bed reading to the kids, but it's a way to connect as a family. By no means is it a novel idea, but I love that the kids ask for these moments, and sometimes when we are busy and don't get to have a moment before bed, my son will be disappointed. The reason behind his disappointment is that my son is missing the entire family having a moment together. I just love that. That he needs it as much as I. When the hubby arrived and my son asked for a moment, my husband had no idea what my son was referring to. I quickly filled him in and he liked the concept. But it did get me thinking how life is made up of moments - good and bad. And in the end, I'm trying to instill that to some extent we have some control over our moments and it's so much better to make those moments happy ones and to make good decisions. My 5-year-old and 2-year-old may not be taking that in just yet, but I hope in their later years they do. But one thing is for sure, they will remember these moments as a family. On me: Maison du Soir Pajamas {similar here in silk}, AJ: GapKids Classic Pajama Set in Plaid and Jack Spade x GapKids Hat, EMS: GapKids Classic Pajama Set in Floral and Janie & Jack BowIn this post: Target Ho Ho Ho Pillow, The Land of Nod Christmas Tree, Ella Bella Ballerina and the Nutcracker, Olivia Helps with Christmas, Polar Express, and T'was the Night Before Christmas
