Washington DC Travel Diary

Before we embarked on this trip, or any trip for that matter, I always make a list of the things I would like to see or places to eat. It never fails that my list is always bigger than reality and I seem to forget that I'm traveling with kids. So it goes without saying that my expectations are always high, but once we are there I go with the flow and of course take the kids into consideration. Reality kicks in and we do the most we can with the amount of time we have.

I quickly told you about my philosophy when traveling with kids. Which is do whatever makes everyone happy - one activity for the kids and one activity for us per day. It seems to work out just fine with the age their in {6 and almost 3}. And if we want to push to three activities on a particular day, we just have to know that it may be a 50/50 chance of success.

On this trip, we had many highs, but being spring break the museums were packed no matter the day. My biggest disappointment was not seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom. I missed them by about a week. But that's how travel goes. There's always the unexpected that we need to take into consideration. I had a couple outfit posts planned around the blossoms, so I'm sorry I won't be able to deliver those. I also had a family photography session planned around those blossoms, but another year it will be. Maybe. I may just have to switch the blossoms for palm trees instead. Ha! So here's the travel diary:

Strangers at Union Station

Enjoyed brunch with the family and also met Natalie there for brunch at Le Diplomatelediplomate_parisianflairlediplomatedcbreadstation_lediplomatelediplomate_ajcoloring

Treated the littles to cupcakes at Georgetown Cupcakegeorgetowncupcakegeorgetowncupcake_pinkboxesgeorgetowncupcake_cupcakesAnd of course a stop at Olivia Macaron in Georgetown was another must.oliviamacaronBraved the line at Rose's Luxury an hour and half before they opened to celebrate the hubby's promotion. I was number 2 in line. Let me just say I enjoyed the company of my fellow line companions. In case you are wondering about the littles, there's a toy store near by and a play area so the hubby entertained them while I waited in line.rosesluxuryBought a few things at Salt & Sundry in Union Market. Natalie was my lovely companion for the day.salt&sundry_unionmarket

If I had more time I would have explored more of Georgetown. The Shops of Georgetown are definitely a must if you are into shopping. There's also a Dean & Deluca and Paul.

Sadly we missed the cherry blossoms in full bloom, but there will always be another year. I hope. Meanwhile, I'm taking them all in through Instagram. We did visit a couple of museums with the kids of course. A must when visiting DC.
