I especially love to make the holidays fun for the kids. It gives me joy to make new holiday traditions and to build special memories with my little ones. It's probably my most favorite thing to do in my role as a mom.So as soon as late September rolls around, we commence with our usual holiday traditions - which of course include, pumpkin carving and a visit to the local pumpkin patch and hay ride. One of our other traditions is making pancakes in Halloween shapes with these molds. And to make them extra Halloween-ie we add some pumpkin puree to the pancake mix. I actually prefer them that way all year round as the pumpkin brings a little caramelized sugar flavor when you cook them in a buttery pan. Find the recipe here. So good, but I digress.Last year, we added a new tradition to our Halloween holiday - the making of the haunted Halloween gingerbread house. The kids loved it so much we are doing it again this year. Williams Sonoma makes a beautiful one and I try to always buy it on sale, but Wilton makes a good one as well.Another Halloween tradition has been the making of these mummy sugar cookies. They are so simple to make and easy enough for little ones to lend a hand. And those sugar cookies on a stick were a new addition to our household this year. They are so fun and good!Next week, I'll be sharing photos of this year's Halloween gingerbread house and our mummy sugar cookies. If you need any Halloween ideas, check these favorites below:
