A Holiday Home Update
This post is sponsored by Target.
I have a rule regarding Christmas decorations: Nothing goes up until after Thanksgiving. However, I'm all about adding small, simple, and festive touches around the home this time of year. My decorations are subtle, yet festive. I do make one exception, however, and that is I start watching holiday movies and sometimes even listen to Christmas music as soon as November begins. After all, 'tis the season. And, because this year Christmastime will be a little different in this tropical climate that is Miami, well, I need all the festive flair I can get.
So I came up with two holiday equations to get into the spirit of the season. I have to say, these subtle, festive touches are definitely helping me get into the Christmas spirit.
Holiday Equation #1:
Comfy pillows + cozy throw + a side table for snacks and drinks = the perfect spot for watching holiday movies
In this cozy spot for watching holiday movies, I kept the decor very simple with understated festive touches. I added a pillow with some metallic accents, a beautiful side table with a copper stand, a striped throw in gray and black, and a festive nutcracker with a side of walnuts. I love how these small festive touches blend with my current decor. As you probably guessed, one of my favorite holiday activities is watching all of my favorite Christmas movies -- from the classics to the modern ones. I have quite an eclectic collection. Thus, creating the perfect spot to cozy up on weekends makes it inviting to sit down, relax, and take a moment to enjoy the holiday season with a movie. It's definitely a holiday family affair.Popcorn and wine pair well with movie night. This combination is becoming a new tradition.
Holiday Equation #2
Marquee sign + candle + metallic tree = a modern, simple, and festive bar cart
I also love to update the bar cart and make it festive for entertaining this time of year. This way, we are always ready for impromptu guests or last-minute parties. I added a copper metallic tree, a star marquee sign, and a Christmas-scented candle. On the bottom of the cart, you'll find a jar with some starry lights for a festive twinkle. My holiday-themed bar cart reminds me that it's the most wonderful time of the year.
Cheers to the holiday season!
