Three Easy Tactics To Stay More Organized

This post by this power-mama, has pretty much revolutionized my life. The concept was not new to me, but for some reason it took me reading her post to realize the simplicity of living by my calendar. It was definitely the motivation I needed to read at the beginning of the year. I was already determined to be more organized and change some bad habits, but it gave me the boost to act on my good intentions. And ever since, I make sure to abide by those appointments I have noted and treat them with priority. Here are three tactics that are helping me stay more organized.

1. To live by my calendar - It's helped me organize every aspect of my life -- and it helps me make time for those things I find important, like my daily workout classes that might otherwise not happen. It also gives me a feel for how busy the week ahead will be and it mentally prepares me for some things that I may not be looking forward to -- such as those weeks that the hubby is away and I have to play being a single parent.

2. Prioritize - As a mom of two I'm constantly juggling the kids' schedules and homework, my own work, house chores, meal-planning, relationships, and working out. My calendar along with my to-do list, has helped me prioritize my daily tasks and it has also helped me be more efficient with my time.

3. Use technology for the good - Another thing I learned from Camille's post is to use technology for the good -- such as to use my phone to make a to-do list, add my shopping list, and jot down thoughts and ideas. And while this may already seem obvious to do, it may be a challenge if you're trying to be mentally present with your kids, your partner, or any of your other relationships. So up to this point, I had decided that my best course of action was to not be near my phone when I'm with family and friends. Because let's face it, anytime my phone is near me or on me, I'm checking emails or it seems easy to navigate my social media feeds. So now instead of neglecting my phone altogether when I'm with family and friends, I make a conscious effort to only use my phone for the good.
