As I promised in my recent weekend memo post, I'm sharing and talking about my favorite hair brushes. Since the beginning of the new year, I've been dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle and taking care of my body, my skin, and also my hair. I recently had to replace all of my hair brushes -- all three of them. And then I started questioning if I was a normal person for using three different hair brushes. But yes I am, and every hair brush has a purpose. My husband was dumbfounded to realize that I use that many. And in reality, I'm sure some of you may even have more. I'm actually thinking of adding a fourth, but it would be a smaller version of my every day hairbrush to keep in my purse. I'm thinking of Aerin's travel brush.
My Harry Josh Hair Dryer is $100 off right now.
So because I had to replace them all {read: one of my kids came home from school with lice!}. I started doing research on hair brushes. I mean if I needed to replace them, maybe I could upgrade and get even better hair brushes. After a doing a decent amount of research, I learned that I'm indeed using the right types, they work for me, and I actually love what they do to my hair. So I proceeded with replacing all of my old hair brushes.
Just like beauty products, hair brushes are an investment. They can be pricey, but well worth every penny to have beautiful hair. And in the end, if you take care of your hair properly, you may end up saving money in other hair products. Here are the three different hair brushes you need for healthy, beautiful hair.
1. Wet BrushAs implied by the name, this is the hair brush you would use on wet hair for detangling. I've been using this Goody Paddle Brush for 4 years and I love it. It removes excess water from my hair making it easier and faster for me to dry my hair. This one by Tangle Teezer got the Allure Best of Beauty in 2015, but I like that mine has an ergonomic handle.2. Styling BrushThis will depend on how you style your hair, but when I blow dry my hair I use a round brush. About two years ago, I was highly recommended to use the Olivia Garden brushes and I've been extremely happy with the results. I use this Ceramic and Ion Thermal Boar Bristle Hairbrush in 3 1/4 inches for blow drying my hair. This straightens my hair, adds shine, and if I want some volume and wave after blow drying, I use these hot rollers. I use and love this Harry Josh hair dryer -- it's pricey, but worth it. I actually got it for 50% off on Cyber Monday a couple of years ago. I found it on sale here for you for $100 off, but you need to act fast as the sale ends today.3. Every Day BrushYour every day brush is to use on dry hair, and it's best to use an all-boar-bristle brush to clean the hair, promote shine and stimulate the scalp. It's recommended that you brush your hair every night before bed. I also brush my hair in the morning with this boar bristle brush, even if I'm washing my hair that same morning.Boar bristle brushes distribute oils from scalp to ends, and with daily use it stimulates and encourages essential oils in the scalp to flow through the hair strands, nourishing and protecting each hair. My favorite one is this one by Kent. Not only do I like the white and black color, but it's cheaper than the Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush and is a high-quality hair brush.
