Backyard Bliss with Pier 1

backyardbliss-pier-hydrangea-v-saramuellerThis time of year, the evenings are my favorite. The longer days, the late sunsets, and the balmy breezes make the perfect conditions to entertain and relax in our backyard patio. And with summer in the horizon, I turned to Pier 1 to inject some color, freshness and add a dose of comfort to our cozy {read tiny} outdoor space -- because summer is for entertaining.

To transform our backyard into our favorite place for relaxation and endless entertainment, I added Pier 1 striped blue pillows, Pier 1 lanterns, and of course some Pier 1 dinnerware and serving bowls. Inspired by the colors of the ocean, I kept the decor blue with pops of grey and whites. It became this bright, but neutral space.backyardbliss-pier1-table-front-h-saramueller backyardbliss-pier1-table-v-saramuellerTo showcase our transformed backyard space, this past weekend we enjoyed an al fresco surf dinner. To help me set the theme for the table, I always try to incorporate some natural elements. I added a pineapple and this Pier 1 rope lantern as the main centerpiece. On top of each place setting, little coconuts served as an extra layer of decor. We drilled holes on the coconuts and the kiddos enjoyed having fresh coconut water. A simple way to stay hydrated, and when you add fun swirly straws, every kid will want one.kiddos-coconuts-bliss-saramueller lecapitaine-hat-oystersWe relaxed, ate, and played in our backyard oasis. Reminiscing about our days in North Carolina where we could go oyster fishing, the main dish for this evening was our favorite oysters in ceviche topping and a traditional seafood ceviche with bread and tortilla chips. For dessert, I made our favorite grapefruit sorbet cups. For refreshments, I served hibiscus pineapple margaritas and a hibiscus sweet tea, and of course a bottle of rosé. I love the way the drinks added a pop of color as well.oysters-plate-pier-1-saramuellerI just love the way these Pier 1 plates add some color and fun to the table. And with the oyster shells, I'm visually transported to the ocean. I can even smell that salty ocean air. This color scheme, with the pop of blue plates and red drinks, would also be perfect for Memorial and 4th of July weekends coming up soon.backyardbliss-pier1-closeup-saramuellerOur tiny backyard is completely bordered by leafy palms, thus making it our own private little oasis for entertaining. We've added a couple of lemon trees which are already producing lemons and will soon give all the greenery pops of bright yellow lemons. I can't wait!backyardbliss-hat-pier1-v-saramueller backyardbliss-pier1-onthetable-h-saramueller saramueller-pier1surf-700-bliss grapefruit-cups-pier1-saramueller hydrangea-pillow-lantern-hat-v-food-saramueller
