On Island Time

July started with a bad note, but thank goodness the month has improved. Sometimes things happen in life that are just meant to be and I'm beginning to understand that it's for the best. Anyway, you're probably all confused as you have no idea what I'm talking about. So all I will say is that sometimes friendships end for good reason. And maybe they were really never a friend.

So when a dear friend rented a place at the beach in Sanibel Island with her family and invited us to tag along, the invite came at just the time I needed it most. As they say, the ocean cures all. And it did! It gave me a new perspective on so many things.

Many memories were made. Ones I will cherish forever. The kids laughed, swam, played, fished, went on sea shell hunts, and even ended the nights talking themselves to sleep. We would go out to the beach at sunset to watch the water and skies change colors. One night following an afternoon storm, we even witnessed a beautiful rainbow in the sky.

And this photo that I've titled over the rainbow happens to be my favorite of the trip. Our friends' kiddos with my littles. This is one is probably going on a frame somewhere. It's exactly what summer should look like.

I read this quote recently, "dear ocean, thanks for making us feel tiny, humble, inspired, and salty all at once." And isn't that the truth?!

These are the days. This is our summer and we're definitely going to enjoy every bit we can. I can't wait to make more special summer memories.
