Hurricane Irma

We're safe and sound! Thank goodness. On Friday, after the latest morning advisory, we decided to head over to a friend's house who's house has hurricane shutters. Sadly, our rental doesn't so we thought it would be best to welcome Hurricane Irma in a house that's well protected.

I packed our valuables, clothes, shoes, etc. not knowing what would be the faith of our house as we were mentally prepared for the worst -- the roof to be blown away or our sliding doors to break. So yes, I packed {overpacked} too much. But it's better to be safe than sorry. It made me realize what I could live without and those things that truly matter most. I'm thinking a big purge is in order.

For the first two days, we were doing just fine and eating too much. It was more like a hurricane party and we tried our best to stay optimistic, because what else are we going to do? That is until Sunday when we lost power and cell service. I know #firstworldproblems.

The kids had a great time too as our friends have kids around their age. They played multiple games of pie face, hide and seek, and the girls entertained themselves by making necklaces for everyone, giving manicures to each other, and playing with makeup. Girls will be girls, and boys will be boys!

We returned home yesterday and found multiple trees down and lots of tree debris. And no flooding in our neighborhood. The best news, our house was intact, except for a little tree that didn't survive, and we had power upon our arrival. We're feeling blessed! Hopefully, everyone else was just as lucky as us.

We've already donated to the hurricane relief efforts and I urge you to do the same.

P.S. These images are of our neighborhood and they were taken today.
