Date Night: A Field Guide To Cocktails

This post is in partnership with Vanguard. Vanguard clients don’t live to invest, but invest to live.

To kick off the holiday season, the hubs and I thought it would be fun to attend a mixology class. It was the perfect excuse for a date night, and not a typical night out. At least not for us. It was so much fun and we walked away with a few new pro tips to making cocktails. Now, we're ready to host our next holiday party!

We learned about the proper tools to use and how to make a cocktail like a pro. It was the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Because every once in a while, we deserve to go out and treat ourselves to a fun night. And it couldn't have been any better for this time of year. After all, tis' the season to be merry!

Did you know that Vanguard clients are 14% more likely to make time for date night compared with clients of other investment firms?* Well, now you know.

We feasted on yummy hors d'oeuvres and the most amazing cocktails. I'll probably be recreating them at home for my friends.

Another fun thing about the night, the dress code - cocktail chic. It really gave us an opportunity to make this into a special night. I wore my favorite holiday dress {recent from Zara}, these J. Crew sparkly heels, and my Kayu clutch.

Above is the Date with Destiny cocktail, but my favorite was the Islay Alexander shown in my hand below.

The night reminded us that we definitely need to make date night a more regular occurrence this time of year. Because although we may be the busiest during the holiday season, we still deserve to get out sans the kiddos.

I think we will be making this a new holiday tradition every year.

Cheers to the holiday season!

* The Where Investors Belong survey was conducted by market research firm Kelton Global in 2016. It polled 1,000 Vanguard clients and compared them with 1,000 clients of other investment firms. All differences between Vanguard clients and clients of other investment firms are statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. The parental stat refers to clients with children of any age who provided the number of hours per week they typically spend with their children or who, compared to other people they may know, believe to be more involved in their child’s life. The experiences of these Vanguard clients may not be representative of the experience of other Vanguard clients and aren’t a guarantee of future investment performance or success.
