How I Plan My Trips
I actually find planning a trip super fun, overwhelming, but so exciting. I get to plan a few outfits. Add a new few new things to my wardrobe. Search the net for pretty places to see while I'm in my destination. And this all gives me a refresh. Something to look forward to is always good.
When I first began planning this upcoming trip to New York City, I felt so overwhelmed. Why? Because I've never been before and because my list of places to visit is just too long. But eventually, that feeling passed and now I'm just so excited.
A few days ago, I posted a similar image as the one above on instagram and I just received too many questions about this image that I decided to dedicate a post on how I plan my trips. This post is for those of you that need a little extra help planning your trips.
Once you've decided on your destination, follow these tips.
Planning Your Trip
- Create a Pinterest Board. Use it to save all of those inspiring images you find online, Instagarm, etc. Pin anything and everything. Places you want to visit, eat at, photo shoot locations, etc.
- Add the places you want to visit in google maps and save them. You can create a list too. For example, in google maps, I have a list for Paris from our trip in 2016, and now I'm creating a list for NYC.
- Create another Pinterest board for what to pack. This way you can narrow down what you need to add to your wardrobe.
- Since you'll be taking a lot of photos during your trip, free up some space on your phone and your camera. Pack an extra camera card and a travel charger for your phone.
Before Your Trip
- Start planning your outfits.
- If you're a blogger, link what you're packing to rewardStyle. That way your outfits will be ready to be linked on the go.
- Using Google Maps and your saved locations, make a draft day-by-day itinerary. Of course, it's easier for the sake of time to split the trip by section, instead of jumping from one end of the city to the other each day.
- Make any desired reservations at least a month ahead if possible.
- Make a packing list.
- Check the weather to see if you need to adjust your packing list.
- Pack!
While You're There
- Explore.
- Be flexible to your plans.
- Have fun and take lots of photos!
- Eat, explore, love!
