Make This Your Favorite Smoothie
Thankfully, I've been sticking to my new year's healthy kick. I have actually made improvements to my daily habits, and even my nutrition due to some research and new-to-me knowledge, and because of our daughter's recent diagnosis of gastritis and ulcers. Do any of you have kids that suffer from this? It's not fun as you can imagine.
We can always improve on old habits, especially when it comes to our health and nutrition.
And this is what I've recently adopted when it comes to my morning green smoothie, thanks to Be Well By Kelly. This formula has been my go-to and I'm loving it. And I know it's doing my body and skin a lot of good!
It's what she calls the Fab Four Formula -- for protein, fiber, fat, and greens.
- 1 serving of protein {I like this one} {at least 20g}
- 1 - 2 tablespoons of fat {such as almond or peanut butter}
- 1 - 2 tablespoons of fiber {such as Flaxseed}
- A big handful of greens {such as kale, watercress, arugula, or spinach, or a mix}
- Liquid {such as almond milk}
- Fruit, completely optional
To this formula, I've also added the following:
- The Beauty Chef Collagen Inner Beauty Boost. This beauty-boosting, bio-fermented probiotic elixir has been scientifically formulated to help increase collagen production, support healthy skin structure and cultivate a smoother complexion from the inside out.
- The Beauty Chef Glow Inner Beauty Powder. The Beauty Chef This is an essential daily beauty blend, containing 24 organic, bio-fermented and probiotic superfoods, for good gut health and healthy, glowing skin.
- Grated ginger or try using a drop of Young Living's ginger vitality essential oil. Ginger helps to lower blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and aids digestion, among other things.
- A small spoonful of Manuka honey 15+*
* I recently discovered this amazing Manuka honey when my daughter was diagnosed with gastritis and ulcers of the stomach. This gold elixir has many benefits that range from healing sore throats and digestive illnesses to curing infections and gingivitis. It has anti-viral, anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties. It can be used to boost the immune system to help fight off illness and improve skin conditions. It also helps to sooth a sore throat, and can be used externally on cuts and wounds, and internally to assist with the healing process of ulcers. It can improve the health of your gut and banish bloating. It contains a natural pre-biotic, which is important for nurturing the gut’s good bacteria, and can therefore help the digestive system rebalance itself naturally. It's also a great natural energy booster.
Manuka honey also has beauty powers too! It can help cure acne and skin infections, and is a natural moisturizer that improves skin hydration. Read more about the benefits of Manuka honey here and here. I'm sold!
