New House Progress

We made it to our new home in Washington DC. After a couple of weeks here, it's finally beginning to look like a real home. We've unpacked, bought some new furniture, and slowly making it ours. I should say that we're renting so our ability to make changes is not very likely. I already see things I would update if we owned it but, I'm going to try to let those things go and make it work. One thing we are doing is making it a smart home. We've decided to go with Google devices in case you're wondering.

Here's some of the kitchen. I thought I would start with this room as it is the heart of the home.

Just right off the kitchen we have a cozy family room. It's on the smaller side, so we bought a new sectional and positioned it against the wall instead of facing the fireplace. We still need a lamp in this room, and maybe some artwork.

On the opposite side of the sectional, we added our tv. We decided to splurge on our tv and bought the Samsung Frame TV. We love it! We love that it looks like a piece of art. And just so you know, our old tv was more than 10 years old, so we were overdue for an upgrade.

And this chair will be replaced with something more comfortable.

I can already picture our fireplace during the Christmas season -- with a fresh garland, a fire crackling, and a side of hot chocolate.

Our dining room is small, but we needed storage. We wanted to go with a minimalist feel in this room because it's small, and we added this shelf that's not obtrusive. Plus I love to mix modern with more traditional pieces. It's perfect to hold our glassware and some serving ware.

This room still needs some artwork and finishing touches.

I like that the dining room is close to the kitchen and family room. You can see a peek of the family through the doorway.

Hopefully, the other rooms in the house will be ready for you to see soon. And of course, I'll be sharing more as these rooms get completed.
