Fitness Essentials
I started the year with a goal of being more fit than I have ever been. Not a small goal, but I wanted fitness to become part of my lifestyle. I was on a good roll for a while and then the move preparations started, and my plan slowly was put behind. After many conversations about staying fit, Andrew and I decided to jump on the Peloton bandwagon. He cycles and I love spinning so we'll both be using it. And instead of paying for a gym membership we'll be paying for the Peloton. It comes with an app {at an additional cost} to use classes, but the classes range from yoga to spinning to running and more, so you can decide what you want to do that day. Our Peloton arrived last week so I'll be sharing more about my experience with it and what you need to make the workouts better.
Apple Watch. I never thought I would want an Apple Watch, but when we bought the Peloton, the idea of more accurately keeping track of my stats appealed to me. I also read many posts that agreed having a fitness watch keeps yourself accountable for working out more consistently. So thanks to my Nana, she gifted me this for my birthday and I couldn't be happier.
Wireless Headphones. I first bought the Powerbeats 3 Wireless Earphones, and they are 50% off if you buy them online. But I ended up returning them and getting the BeatsX instead. I wanted something less bulky and sleek, and they will be more versatile too. And they work with the Peloton too. If you have issues connecting them, make sure they aren't paired to any other device. There's this YouTube video that explains it all better.
Leggings. As I mention in this post, I bought my first pair of Lulu leggings. They are perfect for low-impact workouts and I may even try spinning with them. But I also got these for more intense workouts.
Socks. I've become a sock snob. I use these Balega socks and I absolutely love them. These colors and these no-show socks are included with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And I may just stock up on a few more. The sale ends today by the way.
Sneakers. It's embarrassing to say that I haven't bought a pair of sneakers in about 7 years. So I was overdue. Way overdue. I bought these Nike Epic Flyknit Running Shoes and they are so comfortable.
Spinning shoes. I got the Peloton shoes with cleats.
Small Sweat Wicking Towel. Because sweat. This one is small and made of microfibre fabric that is super absorbent. And this hair band to wick away the sweat.
Post-Workout Wipes. If you're heading to the gym or just don't have the time, these Clinique wipes clean away excess dirt, oil and sweat that can cause pores to clog or lead to breakouts.
Water Bottle. Love this one for its easy one-handed drinking with the push of a button, it's leak and spill proof, and keeps your drinks cold for up to 28 hours.
Heart rate monitor. This connects to the Peloton and helps improve the accuracy of your heart rate reading so that you get better stats. This connects via bluetooth to the Peloton and you'll be able to see how you're doing.
Trader Joe's Vanilla Organic Pea Protein Powder. For those post-workout smoothies.
