Our Entryway Makeover Begins
We have been in this house more than a year. In which most of the first year I wasn't motivated to make the house look better. I hated everything about this house. I was going through some denial/loss issues of having sold our first house, which by no means was it my dream home, but I had some emotional attachment to it. I bought the house on my own at 25 before I met hubby. But soon after, I met hubby, moved in together and we started doing a lot of work to the house. It was a sad decision to sell. I knew it was going to happen, but I don't think I ever prepared myself mentally for it. I never knew how much it meant to me until we moved here. Like they say, you never know what you have until it's gone.
Anyway, back to the present. I am focusing on our main living space which is the living room/entry. About time I say! As you know I would change a million things to this house. So here I am trying to make our spaces more pleasing to the eye.
I am relocating a console table we have to the entry. I am making a table skirt with some pleats like the pictures you see below, but trying to stay budget friendly I am using three round white tablecloths we currently have and never use. I am thinking I could dye the white tablecloths to look more like the first picture.
The table skirt will hide the ugliness of something very similar to this which I bought out of desperation of trying to implement some organization to our mess in the entry (shoes, baby carrier, dog leash, etc.) a few months back.
So I have narrowed down my two options of what I want to hang above this table.
Option 1 - Inspiration board which I have been wanting for some time. See my post here. It will display fabric swatches I like, paint decks of colors I like, prints of favorite inspiration photos, and maybe some fashion-related stuff. I picture something like these here, but not as big as in this first picture.
Option 2 - Sunburst mirror from master bedroom
If the latter happens, then my inspiration board would go above my desk in the master bedroom, which is where I sew. I am following this tutorial to make my inspiration board.
Currently in our entry wall, we have silhouette pictures of us (AJ, me, and hubby) hung vertically (see below). I followed this tutorial. I meant to do one for our dog, but never got to it. I know my head looks a little small compared to the rest. Someday, I will redo it. I would relocate these frames to the hallway wall.
What do you think? Sunburst mirror or inspiration board?
Have a wonderful Friday!
