I love DIY's, but the reality is that I have sadly failed many of them. It might be because I am not that patient when it comes to them. I want to see the finished product fast. I am learning, however, that there's no hurry and I am trying to take the time so that I get good results.
To tell you the truth when I started this project I had no idea if it would succeed. I had a box full of driftwood waiting to be used and so I gave it a go. And because part of me thought it wouldn't succeed I neglected to take blog-worthy pictures, but I did take some along the way just in case.
This is how I did it, but I am sure there's probably a better way. I am no expert in DIY projects, but this one worked to my luck.
DIY Driftwood Wreath
materials
75-100 pieces of driftwood, I bought mine
here
Liquid Nails, clear
thick foamboard or a thin piece of wood
picture hanger
Step 1. For the dimensions of my wreath, trace a circle on a piece of heavy foam board or thin piece of wood 10 inches wide and a smaller circle centered inside your large circle about 5 inches wide. Cut around the outside and the inside. For foam board use an exacto knife and trace as many times as needed to cut out the circles. For wood use a dremel multi tool. At this point, which I didn't do, attach your picture hanger.
Step 2. Start glueing the longer pieces first around your circle. This is the first layer.
Step 3. Set something heavy on top to help the glue adhere. Once the first layer is set {about an hour later}, start glueing the smaller pieces of driftwood on top of your first layer. Do as many layers as needed. I only did two for mine. But be careful not to make it too heavy. Let dry overnight before you hang it.
Step 4. This is how it looked from the back.
Here's the final wreath hung on my beige walls.
