The Basics of Building A Social Media Kit
Yes I know I said I would be here with organizing tips {those will be featured tomorrow}, but instead I am here with the basics of building a social media kit. The response from yesterday's post, Blogging Basics, was so popular that I am focusing this week on taking care of business. Something, I hardly make time for, and something so valuable. For some time, I was ignorant to what a social media kit was or what one even looked like. But since I began taking my blogging seriously, I have educated myself on what exactly it is and what it needs to have. And until recently, I myself didn't have one.
A social media kit is almost like a resume and it should highlight all of those things that make you and your blog shine. A social media kit can be helpful in two ways. One: If you are reaching out to brands you want to work with. Two: If you are a blogger being approached by companies that are interested in working with you. Either way, you provide them with the kit full of your blog information and sponsorship opportunities and you may end up having a valuable collaboration with brands you want to work with that fit the aesthetic of your brand/you.
So what should a media kit have? Almost anything and everything a job resume should. It can be a one-page graphic or multiple-page graphic, but make it attractive, something that represents your own aesthetic and make it professional. Here's a graphic I put together for you that lists the basics of building a social media kit.
In the future, I plan on sharing my own media kit with you. I hope you found this post helpful and that it helps you decide whether or not you should have one.
Disclosure: This post was partly put together from information shared via The Busy Budgeting Mama.
