Building a Signature Summer Wardrobe

In my own experience the key to building a signature wardrobe is to start with the basics. It's with those basics that you can really build a timeless wardrobe and you'll really cut down on those "I have nothing to wear" days.

Because it seems like spring only lasted a few days here and now it's feeling like summer. Humid and very warm days are on the horizon. I have to say I'm missing a bit of the cooler weather, but there's the long summer days to look forward to. Those fun beach days I'm already planning. So with that in mind here's a few essentials to building a signature summer wardrobe. And I'm sure some of you are also planning some summer getaways. I hope this helps you narrow down what items you need this summer.
White dresses: This Madewell Paisley dress is reminding me of the Isabel Marant Daryl Dress that I missed out on last year. Also love this one and this one.

Shirts & Tees: A classic white linen shirt is a must. Throw it over your bikini and you have a classic beach/summer ensemble. A striped tee and I'm loving the selection of linen tees at Madewell and J. Crew.

Denim: The cutoff shorts {I'm loving the classic Levi's version}, distressed shorts, boyfriend jeans, and a jean jacket.

Silk: A pair of silk shorts and a silk camisole and top.

Shoes: Sandals, heels, espadrilles {love these too}. You'll be set for the summer.

Accessories: Keep your sunglasses classic. Your basic Ray-Ban aviators and a pair of tortoise sunglasses will get you through season after season not just summer. Of course you will need a Panama Hat for those sunny days strolling the city or to the beach. And a classic straw tote to haul your bikini, tunicbeach towel and other beachy essentials such as this Bobbi Brown Beach body oil.
