Mommies Behind the Blog: Tobe of Because It's Awesome

I'm so honored to have Tobe of Because It's Awesome. I recently met {not personally} through instagram and it's been so fun watching her become a Mom to her young daughter Ava. Her nursery was also recently featured in Style Me Pretty Living. Such a beautiful feature and room. And Tobe is uber talented!
Name, occupation, how many kids? Tobe // graphic designer, vintage goods dealer and blogger at Because It's Awesome // two daughters, Ava 9 months and (step daughter) Grace 13 years old

Your favorite thing to do when you have time alone? Go antiquing, dig into my pile of unread shelter mags and books, or catch up on favorite sites/blogs...with a glass of red wine.

Three things you can't live without? chapstick, laughter and Brasso
Mommy uniform? Denim, flats and a washable top! We are heavy in the drooling stage right now.

Favorite go-to store for kids toys/clothes? Target, hands down.
What's the biggest challenge with blogging, working full-time and being a mommy? Have you hired help? I keep saying that I'm going to hire help! Like most, the biggest challenge is accepting that no area of my life is going to be perfect. It's a struggle every time I have to choose whether to read up on best baby care practices, disinfect the house or knock out a blog post....never mind that the better part of my day is dedicated to my career. I still want to do it all, but I have to be honest with myself about what is most important. It's tough.
Where do you and your kids go to for fun? From the time Ava was born, we have been avid walkers. Neighborhoods, city parks, gardens, etc. Luckily, everywhere you go is an adventure to a 9 month old so it's not too hard to keep her entertained...even with menial tasks like the grocery or hardware store.

What words do you live by? lately: Strive for progress, not perfection.
When do you find the time to blog and work with a small child? It's tough for sure! This is something I'm still working to figure out. Honestly, i have to remind myself that it's okay for some things to slip if it means more quality time with my family. I find that I'm not a very good mom when I'm too tired, so stealing from sleep isn't really a good option either.

What's a current goal you are working towards? Please see above :)
How does a typical day look for you? Our precious little alarm clock goes off around 6:00am. From that moment on, it's a race to get everyone fed, cleaned up and out the door by 7:30 so I can start my work day at 8:00. The day usually seems to fly by, but I'm always eager to get my hands on bebe as soon as possible in the evenings. We absolutely love her daycare center, so that helps quite a bit. Ava and I are typically home around 5:30 with my husband following shortly after. We might sneak in a walk or some play before dinner, and then we start the bath, bottle, bed routine with lights out around 7:30 (or 8:00 if she really fights it). Eric and I try to get a little bit of quality time after she goes down, but there are always bottles to be washed, laundry, general cleanup, and the occasional blog post or shop inventory to address before we head to bed ourselves. It sounds so boring when I type it! But it really is the most wonderful routine I could ever imagine. I'm a homebody, especially when cooped up with two of the people I love most.
