Baby? What Baby? I'm 25 Forever and Ever!

The other day in the lobby of a waiting room, I was catching up on some magazine reading. I think it was Shape magazine and I stumbled upon the Olivia Wilde interview talking about her body after a baby. So many of the things that she talked about resonated with me. For example, she says that there is this general belief that the bodies of modern women should have no trace of ever having a baby. I have self-imposed that belief on my own body for some crazy reason. Like I should always look as though I never housed a human in my womb. "Baby? What baby? I'm 25 forever and ever!"

The reality is that I've had two kids and my hips know it and my abs, even after three years of housing a little human, are still recuperating. I've always been a perfectionist and a planner to a fault. So as the years go by and my body starts to change, I can't deny that I've suffered from self-esteem issues. From thinking I'm too fat or spouts of the "nothing looks good on me" syndrome. But even when I weighed a mere 115 pounds I never saw my self as skinny. Why do we {women} do that? Now don't get me wrong, I do have deep admiration for the women that have babies and look like they never did. It takes hard work and I know it. I've realized that in order to improve on my body image I need to make exercise a regular, if not daily occurrence. I'm exercising to feel good about myself, to live healthier, and yes to shed a few unwanted pounds. But beyond the exercising-for-me concept, I learned something when I started my "anywhere" workout and my 30-day squat challenge. When my kids saw me working out in the family room, they themselves came over leaving their toys behind and started copying my moves, or at least attempting to. It made me realize the importance of exemplifying an active lifestyle.UPMOVE-jawbone-saramuellerOne thing that has definitely helped me stay on track with pursuing a more active lifestyle is the UP MOVE with the Smart Coach app. Remember I'm a planner, and this device has definitely helped me plan how to stay more active.
