Holiday Notes {Our Advent Calendar}
We've just started our advent calendar and I have to say, so far, it's been a big hit. I decided to change it up a bit this year and the kids are loving this daily Christmas activity. And I'm too! I found this wonderful advent calendar at Target and the idea grew from there.Here's what we do.
I decided to make this advent calendar more interactive. So instead of putting small toys in the little boxes, I insert a small scroll of paper {shown above} in the corresponding box with a note for the kids to read. Well, more like AJ reads it out loud. The note reads something like this:
_______________________________
Dear Andy & Ella,
Happy December 3rd! Just twenty one more days until Christmas! Find the Elf on the Shelf and you will find your surprises.
Love,
Mommy & Daddy

They've been enjoying the activity a lot more because it's become a little scavenger hunt. And they never know if it will be a small toy like the train or book you see above. On some days, they may even get a little candy cane or treat in the box along with the scroll. The gifts don't have to be expensive. I always tell them, it's the gift that counts.
Happy Holidays!
