Holiday Notes: Our Signature Cocktail
Last year, our signature cocktail for the holidays was this Pomegranate in a Pear Tree. This year, it's this delicious Cherry Lillet Blanc. As I mentioned here on instagram, I love hosting holiday parties -- planning the menu, the drinks, the food, having family and friends over, and the merriment that comes with it of course.
Just before Thanksgiving last week, we hosted a small get together. I made a simple cheese plate and this cocktail, and we were set. Because sometimes easy is perfectly good. And for the kids, Shirley Temples are always a good idea!
Cherry Lillet Blanc
makes 2 drinks
8 fresh Bing cherries, pitted and halved2 cherries on the stem for garnish3 orange slicespinch of sugar1/2 cup Lillet Blanc1/2 cup club soda, or to taste
Fill glasses with ice.
Put the cherries, 1 of the orange slices, and the sugar in a cocktail shaker and muddle until the cherries are broken down and juicy. Add the Lillet, fill the shaker half with ice, and shake until very cold.
Divide the mixture between the glasses, top with club soda, garnish each drink with a whole cherry and an orange slice, and serve.
Now, I can cross this off my holiday bucket list.
Eat, drink and be merry!
