Love Of The Journey {of Being A Military Spouse}
This past Mother's Day was by far the best one in a long time. For one, the hubby was actually home. Yes! For some reason, his travels most of the time fall on our "big" events - mother's day, birthdays, or anniversaries. So having him around for Mother's Day was already a special thing. He had so many little surprises and details for me with the kids and that just totally made my day.
When Wente approached me to share with you today my #LoveOfTheJourney -- my journey of being a military spouse, I couldn't say no. First, it's something I rarely talk about, and second I love their wine. Ha!
As you may imagine, being a military spouse isn't always easy. A lot of times I feel that I'm left behind -- but that's not necessarily the reality. I know he has some pretty major responsibilities that requires him being outside the country at times. And it's taken me a while to figure this out.
Actually, it's taken some time to figure this whole military spouse thing. The constant moves {four in the past 8 years}, the uncertainty of where we will be moving next, potential upcoming deployments, and doing this all with little kids in tow is definitely not ideal. But you know, I love it all now. Ok maybe not the deployments, but I do look forward to our next move because it's exciting to travel and explore new places. And when he travels away, I see it as an opportunity for me to do some things alone that I love and enjoy, and spend some good quality time with the kids. #LoveOfTheJourney
And I believe that we all have our own journey to follow. This is my journey and I'm learning to fall in love with it, to grow with it as a person, to see it as an opportunity instead of a deterrent, to be a role model to my children that change is good, to be proud that my husband chose this as his career, and to have our children understand the honor of serving in the military. Because as I sit here and write this out of the comfort of my own home, I realize that I take for granted this freedom of speech that this country allows. I'm so blessed in so many ways. This is my #LoveOfTheJourney story.
I invite you to share with me your own #LoveOfTheJourney story and leave your comments below.
Also, I'm looking forward to National Chardonnay Day on Thursday, May 25th as the opportune time to buy a bottle of Wente Chardonnay and share a toast to the one you love most!
Cheers to each of our #LoveOfTheJourney stories!
