Our Back To School Traditions

We're in full prep mode for the new school year. We have a couple more weeks before the kiddos start school. My 8-year old is going into 3rd grade and my youngest into kindergarten. Where has time gone? Some days, I wish I could just freeze time to enjoy them this little just a bit longer. Insert tears here as my littles are not so little anymore.

One of our favorite back to school traditions is making homemade graham crackers. You can find the recipe in this post. I love putting these sweet treats in their lunchbox to make it more special as the new year starts. We usually bake them this time of year, but I find that they don't last long so I'll be making another batch soon.

The cookies also make for a great after school snack or even dessert -- because cookies and milk are always a great idea! Don't you think? But yes, everything in moderation. I agree!

We love books over here! I try and surprise the kids with a new book before they start school. It's definitely become one of our traditions. But I'm finding that my 8-year old is outgrowing the little books so I'm in need of a good boy series for him to start reading. Mamas out there with boys any suggestions?

I'm always trying to figure out what I can do to make the start of the new school year special. Especially, because inevitably they get those new school year jitters. I'm thinking besides the homemade crackers, I'll be adding some sweet notes, and maybe a little something special -- a coupon for an ice cream date after school to hear all about their first day.
