A Shift In My Style
I've noticed a shift in my personal style. It may have something to do that I'm in my 40's now. Wow, that just sounds a bit scary to me. . . to write that. While I still love feminine and classic pieces, I'm gradually making a shift into more grown-up styles . . . more specifically with jewelry. And I guess in some ways with my wardrobe too!
I recently realized how little I've invested in classic jewelry pieces -- those delicate pieces of jewelry that are timeless, that I can pass on to my daughter, that I can layer all together if I want to go for an edgier look, or just wear alone.
In regards to classic jewelry pieces, here's what I do have: I have my Chanel brooch, a pearl necklace, and a few dainty gold rings from Catbird, and that's about it. I had a nice pair of diamond earrings, and years ago I misplaced one of them, so I'm left with one.
I've always been the girl to go for dainty versus big, statement pieces, but somehow that changed or I got caught up with things like the J.Crew costume jewelry pieces that you see everywhere. I guess my style got influenced instead of staying true to my style. I used to only wear little diamond studs, and now I understand why. I'm going back to that. To me. I'm looking for things that have longevity, serve a purpose, and speak to me.
I also don't mean that they need to be ridiculously expensive. Just classic, gold pieces that will stand the test of time, that can go from season to season.
Here are some pieces I would love to get my hands on. A classic gold band, this watch, this necklace, this one, and this one to layer, this locket, this dainty bracelet, this signet ring, and these gold hoops.
