For Father's Day: Show Him How To Master The At-Home Shave

fathersday-gifts-saramueller

I just realized that I never scheduled my post for Mother's Day gift ideas. But this month is all about the dads in our lives. As I was putting this post together I thought about all of my past gifts to the hubby, and the practical gifts for some reason, have been the most cherished. So my focus today is just that - practical gifts with meaning and intention.

For part one of my Father's Day gift ideas, I put together this how-to on mastering the at-home shave. Maybe you could play barber and carefully shave his face {if he'll let you}. One thing I've learned over the years is that my husband loves to be cared for, and whenever I find the time to do something out of the ordinary he loves it. So this year, here's what I'm gifting him, along with the how-to below.

"A good shave has lots to do with process and technique. Let the cream sit longer on your skin {around two or three minutes}, then shave with the grain everywhere. It takes a lot more time and precision than some careless swipes, but it helps limit friction and, in turn, prevents irritation and razor burn." The Kaufmann Mercantile Guide

Simple Rules

1. Shower before shaving. The shower helps open your pores and soften the hairs on your face, preventing irritation by minimizing resistance between the blade and your skin. Use your free hand to feel for any spots you might have missed.

2. Going with the grain. Before you shave, spray Baxter Shave Tonic on your face avoiding the eye area. Follow by applying Baxter Super Close Shave Formula.

3. Out with the old. As soon as your razor starts feeling dull, toss it.

4. Slow down. Going slowly is key to avoiding nicks and razor bumps. If you nick yourself, use a styptic pencil with some warm water to close the cut.

5. Splish Splash. Splash a liberal amount of warm water on your face postshave. Repeat. The warmer the water, the better to open pores and soften follicles. Follow up with cold water to seal your pores and prevent razor burn. Dry off with a clean towel and apply Baxter After Shave Balm.

For limited time, Baxter is offering 20% off and free shipping with code FATHERSDAY20 at checkout. Offer expires on June 10.
